Point and Clique Confront the Monsters Within in “Monster”
Point and Clique take viewers on a dark and surreal journey in “Monster,” a cinematic music video that explores the hidden struggles, temptations, and survival instincts that shape human behavior.
Produced by Media Movement Network (MMN) and directed by Shabaka Mu Ausar, the visual unfolds across Rochester’s Monroe Avenue and surrounding cityscape, where reality slowly gives way to a nightmare-like world. As the story progresses, Point and Clique transform into monstrous versions of themselves—a powerful rhinoceros-like beast and an evil siren-mermaid—symbolizing the internal battles between purpose, temptation, greed, violence, addiction, and spiritual conflict.
Drawing inspiration from the cinematic romance of Ari Lennox’s Under The Moon, the horror imagery of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and the psychological darkness of the Gravediggaz classic Diary of a Madman, Monster blends fantasy, horror, and street realism into a powerful visual allegory. Throughout the video, viewers witness manifestations of destructive choices and personal demons as the artists navigate a world where survival often comes at a cost.
Shot on the Z CAM E2-S6 cinema camera, the production embraces a moody luxury-noir aesthetic, combining performance, visual effects, and symbolic storytelling to create an unforgettable viewing experience.
More than a music video, Monster asks a deeper question: Are the monsters we fear external forces, or reflections of the battles taking place within ourselves?
