Tension and Triumph in the 19th Ward
For the first time in a decade, magnolia-block-party today from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Hundreds of area residents gathered for free food, bounce houses, and children’s activities.
The event faced an unexpected challenge when the permit was suddenly revoked mid-party. However, instead of shutting down the festivities, Rochester Police officers remained on-site to protect the area and kept the roads blocked off so the community could safely continue celebrating.When asked about the perseverance of the event, one organizer stated simply, “It’s for the kids.”
